Shopping for a good fish finder is often as difficult as getting the fish. However, Garmin fish finder products are suited to a variety of budgets and skill levels. Garmin makes five different fish finders, which cover the full range of requirements for just about all fishermen.
Their cheapest model is also their basic level device. This is the Fishfinder 90. A great machine for the newbie as it is simple to use, but still powerful enough to be useful. Good shallow water functionality having a black and white display including an automatic gain setting. Battery functioned with one hundred watts of power. This product retails for around one hundred ten dollars.
The New Garmin Echo Fish Finder
The second Garmin fishfinder device up on the scale is the Garmin fishfinder 140. This model is only slightly higher in price than the basic model selling for just under one hundred thirty dollars, but it really has several other features. The biggest improvement is the screen size being a much larger - 128 by 240 pixels. This also has automatic re-scaling and automatic back up of configurations.
The Model 160C is a one hundred fifty watt product with a color display that is properly readable during daytime. The display is 128 by 128 pixels. This unit sells for about two hundred dollars. The next step up in rate is Model 300C. This is essentially very similar to the 160C but using a large color display screen of 240 by 300 pixels. It additionally has a split screen feature. This unit costs around two hundred fifty dollars.
The leading edge version is the fishfinder 400C. This particular model is supplied in both freshwater and saltwater variant. The freshwater models can handle up to 900 feet depths and the salt water units can penetrate up to fifteen hundred feet. The former is a four hundred watt model and the second a five hundred watt device.
